Stitching a welcome to the Athletes of the World

"Stitching a welcome to the Athletes of the World"

Our branch was given Grenada as the source of inspiration for our postcards. They have all been stitched together and posted to Embroiderers’ Guild House. The postcards will form part of a National collection representing over 200 sporting nations

They will be on show at the National AGM at Southport in March along with all the postcards from all the other branches in the country. It should be an amazing display!

January 2012

We got off to a flying start this year with a very interesting and entertaining talk from Liliane Taylor.

Liliane talk was entitled, ‘The Story Sew Far’ about how she started her journey in stitch and where she is today. She was a very popular tutor at Summer School at Alston Hall in July 2011 and 3 of our members attended her course. Her work is lovely and what our members produced is a testament to her enthusiasm and generosity of teaching skills and techniques.

She brought an extensive range of pieces of her work. I couldn’t  photograph her work as it was mostly under glass but she has kindly allowed me to use some images from her website to show variety of sources of inspiration that she uses.

We are hoping to book Liliane for a workshop sometime this year.
